Lessons From Hebrews

Lessons From Hebrews

The main theme of Hebrews is Jesus is better.  He has a better priesthood, a better covenant, He is better than Moses, He is better than Angels.  And the list goes on and on in Hebrews.  Jesus is high than and better than everything else.

General Information about Hebrews

The book of Hebrews shows the superiority of Jesus.

In Hebrews Jesus is presented as the Great High Priest and the only mediator between God and man.

The theme of the book is the priesthood of Christ and the maturity of believers.

In Hebrews we see the superior person of Christ, the superior priesthood of Christ, and the superior principle of faith.

Christ is superior to:

The prophets

The angels

Moses

Joshua

Aaron

Christ’s priesthood is of:

A better order.

A better covenant.

A better sanctuary.

A better sacrifice.

Chapter 11 is called the great hall of faith.  Here we see the great example of faith.

Chapter 12 shows us the endurance of faith.

Chapter 13 shows us the evidence of faith.

There is a connection between Hebrews and the book of Leviticus.

Because of the way the book of Hebrews refers to sacrifices being done in the temple in the present tense, we know that this book must have been written before 70 A.D.

The Temple was destroyed by the Romans in 70 A.D.

The book of Hebrews was written by a man in prison from Italy.  Paul was in prison in Rome.  Hebrews was written by Paul.
