1Jo 5:13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.

One of the purposes of 1 John is to explain the standards of true fellowship in Jesus Christ.

The book of 1 John teaches us that fellowship with God and fellow believers is based on the standards of God’s Word and is maintained by the principle of confession of sin.

1 John was written by the Apostle John.  He was the disciple whom Jesus loved.  He was the only surviving Apostle at the time this book was written.
