Joseph Pictured Christ – Part 1
There are so many times that Joseph is a picture of Christ in the Scriptures that it is amazing. Too many for one post. So I will break them into Christ in the Scriptures Joseph part 1, part 2, ect…
Joseph was rejected by his Jewish brothers. Following this was severe testing thru adversity. Then Joseph was exalted to the leadership of Egypt. And thru that he saved the world of his time by providing the solution for the famine. And then thru the tribulation of the famine his brothers were reconciled to him.
The book of Matthew tells us how Christ came to His Jewish Brethren and was rejected. Joseph’s brethren sold him into slavery for 20 pieces of silver. They betrayed him. Jesus was betrayed by his Jewish brethren and for 30 pieces of silver.
Joseph’s brethren faked his death. Jesus’ brethren actually had Him killed. Joseph’s brethren thru him in a pit. Jesus’ brethren had his body thrown in a tomb. They are both holes in the earth.
From the time Joseph’s brethren rejected him and sold him they were separated. They knew him no more in a real practical or intimate sense. They might have been related thru bloodline but there was no relationship between them during that time.
As a whole the Jewish people rejected Jesus, and since that time on the whole there has been no relationship in a practical or intimate sense. On the whole they still reject Him today.
Thru the awful trial and trouble of the famine Josephs brethren realized the errors of their ways and did bow down before Joseph and were reconciled unto him.
During the trouble to come that is sometimes referred to as the time of Jacob’s trouble, the Jewish people will also bow before Jesus and be reconciled unto them. This is the time that the Bible refers to when it declares that All Israel shall be saved.
Romans 11:26 And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob:
The parallels are amazing. God was painting a picture of things to come and especially a picture of the Jewish people’s relationship, rejection, and restoration to Christ. It is a testimony of God’s great power that he can do this with the real lives and real circumstances of life. It also shows how wonderful His Book is, and how he loves man and wanted man to be able to recognize Christ when he came.
