Lessons From 1 Peter

Lessons From 1 Peter

1 Peter is a powerful and encouraging letter written to Christians who were facing severe persecution and hardship.  The main theme of the book is suffering from persecutions and how as Christians we should not be surprised by this and 1 Peter instructs us how we should handle it.

General Information about 1 Peter

1 Peter was written by the Apostle Peter

Nero’s persecutions of Christians was between 64 and 67 A.D.

1 Peter was written around 66 A.D.  So this book was written after Nero started burning Christians in his garden.  The church was literally in a fiery trial.

Before the burning of Rome and the blaming of Christians for it persecution was mainly from Jews who rejected Jesus.  Now persecution is coming from Rome.
