What is Missing in Heaven and What Goes on in Heaven

One of the things that makes heaven so wonderful is what is missing in heaven. If all of the sin was not separated, then heaven would not be possible.

What is missing in Heaven

Tears are missing in Heaven.  I say praise the Lord for this!

Rev 21:4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

There is no more death. There is no more sorrow. There is no more crying. There is no more pain

Rev 21:22 And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it.

There is no more temple. No more having to go to the temple to worship God. No more waiting for Sunday or Wednesday night. The Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it. The presence of God fills heaven. We will be able to praise God, worship, and fellowship with Him from every square inch of the place. And we will be able to do it continually.

Rev 21:23 And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb [is] the light thereof.

Rev 21:25 And the gates of it shall not be shut at all by day: for there shall be no night there.

There is no more night

Rev 22:3 And there shall be no more curse: but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it; and his servants shall serve him:

There is no more curse. There is no more sin and no more of the effects of sin.

No more struggle with temptation. No more doing things that later you regret. I am looking forward to that one. No more sticking your foot in your mouth. And no more curse. This is speaking of the curse that Adam brought on the race.

Gen 3:17 And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed [is] the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat [of] it all the days of thy life;

Gen 3:18 Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field;

Gen 3:19 In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou [art], and unto dust shalt thou return.

No more sweating and toiling just to eat bread. No more fighting the thorns and thistles of life. In heaven there will be no more curse. One of the things that makes heaven so wonderful is what is missing in heaven. If all of the sin was not separated, then heaven would not be possible. If sin was allowed into heaven, then it would no longer be heaven. For heaven to be possible the God rejecters must be put somewhere else. To have a Heaven you must have a Hell.

What is Going on in Heaven Today

Heaven is an inhabited place right now, and it is a place of much current activity.

Angels are praising the Lord there.

Psa 148:1 Praise ye the LORD. Praise ye the LORD from the heavens: praise him in the heights.

Psa 148:2 Praise ye him, all his angels: praise ye him, all his hosts.

Angels serve the Lord there. Angels go from heaven to earth and back ministering to those who are heirs of salvation.

Heb 1:13 But to which of the angels said he at any time, Sit on my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool?

Heb 1:14 Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?

Angels are involved in carrying souls to heaven.

Luk 16:22 And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham’s bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried;

There are constantly new people being delivered to heaven. There are constantly reunions of God’s children taking place. Heaven is a bustling place of activity. There is rejoicing in the presence of the angels when souls on earth repent of their sins.

Luk 15:10 Likewise, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth.

Every time that someone gets saved it causes rejoicing in Heaven. Somewhere on this planet there is someone getting saved almost all the time. And not one of them is overlooked. Every single one is noticed and there is rejoicing over every single one.

Jesus intercedes for the redeemed there.

Rom 8:34 Who [is] he that condemneth? [It is] Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.

Rev 12:10 And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.

This verse teaches us that the Devil is accusing the saints of God day and night at the throne of God in heaven.  This verse is talking about Satan getting cast down during the tribulation period.

Rev 12:12 Therefore rejoice, [ye] heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time.

And until then he is accusing us before our God day and night.

We have an example of this in the book of Job.

Job 1:6 Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them.

Job 1:7 And the LORD said unto Satan, Whence comest thou? Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it.

Satan was cast down when he sinned but he still has access to the throne to accuse God’s children.

Job 1:8 And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that [there is] none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil?

Job 1:9 Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, Doth Job fear God for nought?

Job 1:10 Hast not thou made an hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he hath on every side? thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land.

Job 1:11 But put forth thine hand now, and touch all that he hath, and he will curse thee to thy face.

Here we see Satan accusing Job of only loving God because God blessed him.  So at the throne today Satan is accusing us of all kinds of things. But praise God Jesus is also at the throne making intercession for us.

Rom 8:34 Who [is] he that condemneth? [It is] Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.

I believe that part of this intercession is to tell Satan as he accuses us that That sin that you are mentioning is under the blood. That sin has been paid for. It has been forgiven. And part of this intercession is Jesus praying for us.

Joh 16:26 At that day ye shall ask in my name: and I say not unto you, that I will pray the Father for you:

When I have a problem there are some people that I want to pray for me. You can just tell that there are some people who just walk close to God in prayer.  And when I have a real bad problem, not only do I pray about it, but I want the prayers of a fervent righteous man also. But there is someone else who prays for me that is above all others. Someone whose prayers I need above all others. And that is Jesus. Jesus is praying for us in Heaven.  Jesus is preparing a place for us there.

Joh 14:2 In my Father’s house are many mansions: if [it were] not [so], I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.

Heaven today is a very active place.

What Shall We Do in Heaven

Many people have the common notion that we shall be floating around on clouds, dressed in white gowns, flapping a pair of wings, and strumming a harp for all eternity.  The Bible teaches NO such thing.

Rev 5:9 And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation;

In heaven the redeemed of all ages will sing a new song.  I will finally be able to sing. I will no longer have a corrupted body.

Rev 7:15 Therefore are they before the throne of God, and serve him day and night in his temple: and he that sitteth on the throne shall dwell among them.

Rev 22:3 And there shall be no more curse: but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it; and his servants shall serve him:

In heaven we will serve God.  And we will be able to serve God without having to fight sin. Our service will be pure. It will be without any selfish motives or pride. And we shall serve Him. We will be active. We will have things to do in heaven. We will be serving God. We are not told what all this service will entail.  But I like to think that it will be interesting and fulfilling. There will not be boredom in heaven.

1Co 2:9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.

I believe that we are not told more about what this service will be because we have no point of reference to understand it all.  What ever it is it will be good. We will sit with the Lord at His throne.

Rev 3:21 To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.

We will actually get to sit with God at His throne and see Him face to face. There will be no longer anything that separates us from God.  And we will get to sit with the saints of God.

Mat 8:11 And I say unto you, That many shall come from the east and west, and shall sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven.

We will get to meet and sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob. The men whose lives that God used to teach us so much in His Holy Word.  Think of all your favorite people in the Bible. King David, Johnathan, Boaz, Ruth, Rahab, Isaiah, Jeramiah, Paul, Matthew, Luke, and John.  You will get to sit down with all of them as well as all of the saved throughout all the ages.  You will get to talk to all the martyrs who were burned at the stake or fed to animals at the coliseum. We will get to talk to people who loved the Lord more than they loved their lives.

I hope that there will be preaching in heaven. I would love to hear Billy Sunday, Spurgeon, and Moody. I would like to hear a lot of the great preachers that we have never heard of. All the great men who followed God even when God sent them to an old country church with only a handful of people. Men who never were acknowledged on this earth but preached their hearts out week after week with a love for God and a love for the people God gave them to pastor.

On this earth there are barriers between people. What I mean by that is I cannot just go talk to anyone I want here on earth. I cannot just walk up to the white house and knock on the door and say I just decided to come by and sit down and have a good long talk with George.

In heaven there will be no distinction between those who have power and those who don’t. There will not be those who have money and those who don’t.  There will not be people who think that they are better than you.  There will not be different classes of people.  We will be able to walk freely among one another.

We will be able to sit down with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.  It is truly going to be a wonderful time. A time of pure sweat fellowship with God and with all the saints of all the ages.  There is a lot that we are not told about heaven. Much of it we could not understand if He did tell us. But God has told us enough to know that it will be wonderful.

Charles Finney put it this way.

“Probably when we get to heaven, our views, joys, and holy exercises will so far surpass anything that we have ever experienced in this life, that we shall be hardly able to recognize that we had any religion while in this world.” – Charles Finney

There is much that is going on in Heaven today.  Angels are praising the Lord there. Angels are involved in carrying souls to heaven. There are constant reunions in Heaven.  There is rejoicing in Heaven when souls on earth repent of their sins. Satan is accusing us there. Jesus intercedes and prays for us there. And Jesus is preparing us a place there. There is a lot going on in Heaven. Heaven is a place of bustling activity.

The Bible does tell us a lot about what is Missing in Heaven and What Goes on in Heaven.
